Best movie EVER!

Hands down, best movie ever!
It takes a great movie for me to blog about it… and THIS was one great movie! The cinematography, the music, the story line, it was all amazing… if you are a fan of the Beatles, which I am, you’ll enjoy it even more…
I am typically not a big fan of musicals, but this was no “The Sound of Music”… All the songs are Beatles hits.
It’s out on DVD right now… I’ve already bought it… and watched it three times :)
How much for your life?
February 28, 2008 at 11:49 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentA story we covered earlier this week really got me thinking…. How much money would it take to get you to trade a year of your life?
I interviewed Charles Chatman a few days ago… An inspiring man who spent 27 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Finally, dna evidence cleared his name, but for nearly three decades he had to sit in a jail cell… knowing he did nothing to get there…
It is my understanding that Charles will receive 50 thousand dollars for each year he had to spend in jail… that’s more than a million dollars… but is it worth it? How do you put a price on life? For me, I wouldn’t give up ONE year of life for that amount of money, much less 27.
I would like to hear from you… how much for your life?
Approach with Caution

Today, I covered a story you will rarely see on NBC5… suicide.
Believe me, much debate went into whether to cover this story, and HOW to cover it. Typically there is an unwritten rule that news outlets do not cover suicides, or suicide attempts.
But we weigh the news value of each story, and decided this was in fact newsworthy because the man who killed himself put others in danger. Police are telling us he was shooting through the walls of his apartment before, sadly, turning the gun on himself… If I lived in that complex, I would like to know if a bullet may be coming into my home…
We take these kind of stories very seriously, and ALWAYS APPROACH WITH CAUTION.
Home Sweet Home
February 25, 2008 at 11:53 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentI’ve spent most my life in Texas, and never really wanted to leave… so after spending a short time in Oklahoma, I’m glad to to back!
There are so many things I missed about the Lone Star state. I do enjoy traveling, I just don’t like to stay away for extended amounts of time. Having been to a lot of the states, I’ve come to learn that most people (other than Texans) don’t know what sweet tea is… Mexican food mean Taco Bell… and Luckenbach is just a song…
I’m sure New Yorkers feel the same way about the Big Apple, and Californians have a love affair with the sunny beaches… but I’ll take the mesquite trees, tumbleweeds, and cowboy culture anyday.Being from West Texas, I admit, I haven’t quite gotten used to DFW traffic yet… but in time, I’m sure I’ll learn to love that too (0r not).
I look forward to being a part of the NBC5 team! Look for me each morning on NBC5 Today, and please check back with Newton’s Notes! Thanks for reading!
